Part of creating a place of dialogue is to create a place of resources as well. If you notice, on the right-hand side is a section labeled “Current Reading(s)”. This is where I will list my current reading(s). The link provides a place to purchase it. I will also post content and thoughts from them as well.
For my first book listed here, I have decided to add my current reading, Pierced For Our Transgressions: Rediscovering the Glory of Penal Substitution. We often say, in most cases a very flippant way, that Jesus took upon the sins of the world. But what do people actually mean by that statement. Steve Jeffery, Michael Ovey, and Andrew Sach have attempted to answer that question in a very thorough but concise way.
It’s a bit more on the technical side of readings, but it is a great resource to consider adding to your collection. They wrestle with real and pertinent issues pertaining to the heart of Christianity, Christ’s work on the behalf of God’s children.
Here is an excerpt from page 97: “Thus I Peter 2:21-25, having begun by setting forth Christ’s suffering as an example to encourage Christians who suffer unjustly, moves on the ultimate grounds of our hope: the atoning efficacy of his death. Christ bore our sin, guilt and punishment, suffering in our place under the curse of God, that we might be saved.”
